UCSF programs helps runners get back on track
At the nutrition station, sports nutritionist Kaley Todd questioned eating habits and advised the runners on optimum diets to support their workouts.
"My problem is getting enough protein because I'm a vegan," said Justine Perez-De Jesus, who works in information technology security at UC San Francisco. "I go up and down in my energy level."
Todd asked about her routine - 30 minutes of running followed by working out with weights - and advised her to eat adequate calories in frequent small meals and prepare healthy snacks for her 1 1/2-hour commute home to Antioch.

"And he doesn't eat anything during a marathon," said Todd, who had advised him about refueling every 5 miles.
